It is the main ingredient in bovine serum. In addition to containing metal ions, fatty acids and proteins that are themselves hormones, there are mainly albumin and globulin. Fibronectin cells promote cell adhesion; Alpha 2 macroglobulin inhibits trypsin; Fetal bovine serum containing fetoglobin promotes cell adhesion. Transferrin can bind iron ions, reduce their toxicity and be used by cells.

BSA is commonly used as a stabilizer to restrict enzymes or modify enzymes in preservation and reaction solutions, because some enzymes are unstable or have low activity at low concentrations. After adding BSA, it may play a role of "protection" or "carrier", and many enzymes can greatly improve their activity after adding BSA. Enzymes that do not require BSA are generally unaffected by BSA. For most substrate DNA, BSA allows for more complete enzymatic cleavage and allows for repeated cleavage. At 37℃, when the enzyme digestion reaction exceeds 1h, BSA can make the enzyme more stable, because in the reaction buffer without BSA, many restriction enzymes can only survive at 37℃ for 10"20min or even less. BSA binds to metal ions and other chemicals in the buffer or substrate DNA that inhibit restriction enzyme activity.

CAUTION

Not for human or animal therapeutic use. Uses other than the intended use may be a violation of local law.
